Custom Challenge Coins Tradition

For many young soldiers, their years in the military will change their lives. They will see new lands, overcome challenges they never dreamed of, and forge friendships that will last a lifetime. In honor of their brave military service, CoinsForAnything is proud to offer unique and personal embossed challenge coins for these patriots as a touchstone for their memories. The tradition of challenge coins was born in the American military. They began as embossed medals commissioned during World War I by Yale and Harvard graduates, usually with the insignia of the soldier’s unit. The practice of issuing challenge coins became fashionable, and soon spread to many other professions and traditions, but to this day, they maintain their greatest power as a remembrance of military service.

We believe in Quality

For about 20 years we have been producing Challenge Coins in our own production facility. Where most of our competition uses standard size coins, standard soft enamel colouring and just buy their coins from Asia, we have been trying to stand out with high-quality coins:
You can order coins in any size you like – no standard sizes.
We offer any material, from 999 fine silver, 24K gold coins or heavy Bronze coins with silver and gold plating. The unique hard enamel colour gives it a perfect finish.
Our design team will take their time to really understand your coin project and deliver better and more unique artwork.
That is why we are one of the #1 challenge coin manufacturers in the World.

Difference between Standard Soft Enamel and Premium Hard Enamel

You can see and feel the difference of the different colouring techniques used on challenge coins. If you order with us, we offer the Standard and Premium qualities.
Standard soft enamel coins have raised metal edges, the colour is added in between the design areas. You can feel and see the recess. This colouring process is done by adding colour and then simply letting it dry.
As for the Premium Hard Enamel, the whole coin has a perfect flush look and feel. Colour is added to the coin, but after the paint has been cured in the oven, the coin is again polished for a perfect finish.

Steps to produce custom coins

  • designing your pure silver coin
  • designing your silver coin
  • designing .999 fine silver coin

If a design, logo or theme is available, our coin designer creates a corresponding draft digitally on the screen. After the graphics have been approved, they are transferred into a digital 3D model, which is then used to produce the minting die. When machining the mould, precision is essential so that the very fine lettering, lines or graphics can later be transferred to the coin as accurately as possible. Cutter tools process the dies down to the tenth of a millimetre. Since they wear out relatively soon, several of them are made at the same time so that the coin production can go through in high quality.

For both cases, the single sided and double sided coin, a die for top and bottom is needed. Accuracy has priority over speed in this processing step. Therefore, the blanks are added to the minting machine by hand and checked individually. Precious metal blanks that do not meet the high standards are sorted out and melted down again. With a pressure of about 100 tons, the motifs are mechanically embossed to the gold and silver rounds. Each minted coin is then carefully checked to ensure that only flawless products are sent to customers. In addition, dies might have to be replaced at regular intervals in order to achieve a consistently high quality.

The finished minted coins can then be further processed. For example, the edge can remain smooth, be hallmarked or have a vertical or angled edge. The edges are also made by hand or by machine. In addition, special laser engravings are also added during the finishing process, such as consecutive serial numbers, through which the coins can be further individualised. After the entire minting process has been completed, the finished precious metal coins are packaged. To protect the surface, gold and silver coins are always packed in high-quality coin capsules. In addition, these can still be placed in elegant cases or floating frames in which the individual coin is decoratively displayed.

What makes our Challenge Coins Unique?

1Size and shape of the Coin

Many companies offer „Standard sizes“. We offer our Challenge Coins in any size you would like. From small 10mm coins to really big sizes up to 150mm. Always available in any shape.

4Coin Reproduction

We keep a sample of your coin with colour chart in our own factory. Whenever you reorder - you will receive the exact same coin again. A lot of competitors just order in Asia, wherever they can find the cheapest price – therefore you will often receive a different coin when you reorder.
